(If not they can talk to the Pens.)

That ribbing is entirely due to your accurate but unspeakable reference to me as "old."Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08688240424047203541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3500036.post-54175606056940060692017-10-24T11:06:41.669-04:002017-10-24T11:06:41.669-04:00Great to see you blogging again, old friend. The belief in a young earth is utterly incompatible with science. The issue is the claim, made by many, that science and religion--just generic religion-- (or science and faith) are incompatible. That claim cannot be demonstrated.Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08688240424047203541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3500036.post-71974116054460986792017-10-20T07:36:53.875-04:002017-10-20T07:36:53.875-04:00When people talk about 'the incompatibility of...When people talk about 'the incompatibility of science and faith' I think they usually mean that the scientific method has arrived at truths that contradict revealed doctrines. I know that some people have said that believers cannot be good scientists but I don't think that view is common.

An example would be the claim that there were once only two human beings on earth. Some religious believers think that and some scientists have said that science has shown that to be untrue. The scientists who have shown it to be untrue might perhaps be religious believers themselves; it is the result that is incompatible with religious teaching, not the scientists.
